Many experts are predicting that our current economic crisis will lead to a greater level of innovation.  As these experts have looked back over history, the worst economic times were also great times for innovative thinkers, who under better circumstances maybe were not willing to take risks and invent, but either lost their jobs or needed extra income so they invented to survive.  What I want to say is that the crisis is not a reason to stop inventing, if anything it is a reason to start inventing!  Don't give up, stay optimistic and make your dream a reality!

Retail sales were down this holiday season, but you can still make a profit with your new product.  Remember that your target customers may be changing their attitudes about spending and you need to stay up to speed with your target customers.  Have your packaging and marketing reflect their changing attitudes.  You should be the expert on your target customers, but still make sure you do some research on how their mindset is changing.

With this economic crisis, is now a good time to be inventing?  Yes!  Companies are cutting back on expensive research and development of new ideas, so they will be looking for outside ideas from inventors.  Now is not the time to quit, but the time to move full steam ahead!

Do you have a hard time getting companies to pay attention to you?  Do they doubt your concept?  Do they think your sample videos are computer generated graphics?  Then you probably need to get the media's attention.  If your product is very new or interesting, chances are you'll be able to get someone's attention in the media.  All media outlets are having big cutbacks, so journalists have less and less time to look for good stories.  If your product offers them a good story, they will probably write about you.  That will give you some credibility when you approach companies about your idea.

Would any niche news services, magazines or blogs be interested in a product like yours?  Submit your product to them and ask that they write an article or review about your product.  If they favorably review your product, you will have more credibility and visibility.  It may be just what you need to get your product going.  A word of warning though: make sure you product is good enough to get a good review.  If your product gets a bad review, even if you fix any problems, your reputation will be tarnished.
